The second priority of DRDO is to improve livelihoods and help prevent environmental deterioration by working on reforestation and forest belts into the semi-desert and desert areas. We also encourage and help the local population to plant popular forests.

DRDO also works with farmers in an agricultural program to modernize traditional agricultural practices by distributing modern tools and seeds to farmers. We also conduct workshops and training through our Agri-forestry program.
