No Peace in Darfur: Mediation Team Creates New Complications

posted Jul 6, 2011, 4:54 PM by Adeeb Yousif

After thirty months of continuing peace talks in Doha, Qatar, characterized by many as having no integrity, no accountability, no transparency, no professionalism and no objectivity, negotiations have come to a halt.

The peace dialogues are on hold between the government of Sudan, two rebel movements and 400 people tagged as stakeholders, there are claims those labeled stakeholders are primarily government supporters. The talks excluded as many as 20 rebel movements, leaving out many of the real actors and stakeholders who would have to participate in genuine peace negotiations.
